Islamabad: The Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Company Limited (SNGPL) has procured Re-gasified Liquefied Natural Gas (RLNG) of volume 378 million cubic feet per day (mmcfd) for domestic utility during the peak days of winter, a news source reported. As per the publication, about 378 mmfcd RLNG was supplied to domestic consumers in December 2019 to meet the ever-growing gas demands.

Reportedly, SNGPL has not significantly added to the country’s gas production for the last few years. However, the domestic use of gas has been increasing over the years. To equate the supply with demand, the authority diverted RLNG to the domestic sector.

The gas utility on SNGPL’s meters in July 2019 was 408 mmsfd which escalated to 990 mmcfd later in December and rose to 1100 mmcfd in January 2020. In other news, it was informed that Pakistan needs almost 7-8 billion cubic feet per day (bcfd) for its domestic consumption but the production volume stands less than 4 bcfd.
