Faisalabad: The Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has launched an investigation into a gas theft scam it recently identified in Ghulam Muhammadabad, according to a news source. A task force comprising officials of the SNGPL head office carried out the operation on a tip-off about a person found utilising domestic gas connection for commercial use.

As per reports, the man had been producing dairy products through the use of domestic metre, while using the stolen gas to provide nearby power looms with electricity for 27 KVA gas generators and three burners with 32 nozzles each. Additionally, he was found illegally providing gas to three of the neighbouring houses.

During the investigation, there was severe resistance from the accused. But the SNGPL team conducted its investigation without any external pressure, and by the end they had seized and disconnected three illegal connections. The organisation has also registered an application for a trial in the local police station.
