Lahore: The Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) announced on Thursday that it would provide an ‘interim relief’ refund to consumers owing to unmeasurable pressure factors, a news source reported. As per the publication, the SNGPL took the decision following the federal government’s directions, in the light of Lahore High Court’s (LHC) decision.

The LHC had decided that SNGPL would give a refund of PKR 3.7 billion to 3.8 million consumers – out of the total 6.5 million effected. The company announced that the relief would be given to the consumers in bills from March 2020 to June 2020.

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) had labelled the SNGPL’s decision irrational and stopped it from proceeding with the same mechanism. In response, the SNGPL challenged the decision in the LHC and the court directed the company to give relief to its consumers.
