Peshawar: In a grand operation against gas theft, Sui Southern Gas Private Limited (SNGPL) severed 6550 illegal gas connections in the city, reported a news source. The operation was launched on the instructions of Federal Minister for Petroleum Ghulam Sawar Khan.
SNGPL disconnected illegal gas connections in Sarbandar, Bahadur Kilay, Landi Arbab, Landi Road, and Charsadda Road. Furthermore, SNGPL registered six FIRs and requested for 21 more against individuals identified using illegal gas connections.
According to a spokesperson for the Ministry for Petroleum, repair of gas pipelines is underway to increase gas pressures. Furthermore, a 16-inch diameter pipeline will also be laid for supplying gas to Hayatabad.
The spokesperson also revealed that a 32-kilometer long gas pipeline installation for Dara Adam Khel is nearing completion. This provision will alleviate the shortage of gas in the region.
So far, Peshawar residents have lauded the operation.
This SNGPL drive against illegal gas connections and gas compressors-usage will improve gas delivery to both domestic and commercial consumers.
