Lahore: Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL) has launched a crackdown against gas theft in the city, according to a publication. Punjab Police and SNGPL officers are leading the operation.

Under this crackdown, SNGPL will carry out raids to identify individuals using gas compressors. The teams will then register FIRs against the people found involved in the practice. In addition, the SNGPL will also terminate their gas connections.

Furthermore, the gas company has announced its intention to impose heavy penalty on gas thieves. The repercussions of being involved in gas theft also include serving a jail sentence.
Via the aforementioned publication, SNGPL has also requested the public to share details on people engaged in gas theft. The gas providing company will keep the names of these whistle-blowers a secret.
