Islamabad: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mohammad Hamza Shafqaat on Tuesday revealed that smart lockdown in the city helped reduce daily COVID-19 cases by 70%, a news source reported. He said that the smart lockdown imposed in sub-sectors of G-9, I-8, and I-10 yielded positive results.

The DC opined that the administration needed to conduct surveillance of different sectors and other residential areas in order to bring down the ratio of new COVID-19 cases to zero. He added that the only solution was imposing a smart lockdown in coronavirus hotspots of the capital city.
Answering a question, Shafqaat revealed that in several areas where the city administration imposed a smart lockdown, the number of news cases gradually came down to zero. He added that the administration would soon seal some areas of sectors G-8, G-7, G-6, and G-10 based on the same pattern.

He also advised that there was a need to reduce load on the health sector of the city in order to save lives.
