Islamabad: The city administration on Thursday imposed a smart lockdown in a number of sub-sectors in the city, including I-8, I-10, I-8 Markaz, and I-10 Markaz — according to a news source. Law enforcement agencies (LEAs) sealed the entry and exit points of these locations with a view to reduce the local number of COVID-19 infections.

Reportedly, the LEAs have already been deployed, and the selected areas have been provided with 36 hours of preparation time before lockdown is officially imposed. The officials concerned have also been directed to strictly supervise the situation in these areas.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Islamabad Hamza Shafqaat visited the I-8 sector and took the opportunity to address the media on the occasion. He stated that a similar lockdown in G-9 and G-9 Markaz had yielded great results, and had led to a decline in the number of coronavirus cases within a few days. He further said that a list of hotspots was being prepared, and that Ghouri Town, Loi Bhir and G-10 would be sealed next.
