Islamabad: The government on Monday notified the implementation of a ‘smart lockdown’ across the country in a bid to contain the coronavirus spread, a news source reported. Federal Minister for Planning Asad Umar announced the initiative following its approval from the National Coordination Committee (NCC).

Earlier, the executive had introduced measures to identify coronavirus pandemic hotspots in the country for implementing this smart lockdown. To this effect, it had planned to increase its testing capacity in order to conduct frequent tests – aimed at identifying the most affected areas across the country. Afterwards, the government would impose a lockdown in areas with large number of coronavirus cases.

In a related development, the Sindh government has conditionally allowed traders to conduct businesses online in the province. In this regard, the provincial government has issued a notification stating that traders would carry out online business activities from Monday to Thursday – from 9 am to 3 pm. However, all businesspersons and staff would follow the provided SOPs.
