Peshawar: Small Industry Board Managing Director Ghazanfar Khattak on Wednesday revealed that the Small Industry Phase-II Abbottabad would soon be declared as a special economic zone (SEZ), a news source reported.

Khattak revealed that after the project gains the status of SEZ, the investors would benefit from the exemption of tax and duty on the purchase of machinery. He added that the provincial government would also set up a granite industrial estate in Mansehra. The granite units of Small Industry would then shift to this industrial estate, he said.
Furthermore, Member Board of Directors Investment and Trader Iftikhar Khan stated that Abbottabad’s Small Industry would provide 10,000 job opportunities. He also suggested the establishment of a branch of State Bank and expo centre at the project site.

Meanwhile, Industry and Trader Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Secretary Javed Marwat visited the site of Small Industry Phase-II Abbottabad. During his visit, the secretary announced the provision of facilities for the project within a month.
