ISLAMABAD: The slum-dwellers in the Federal Capital have announced that they will resist their eviction from katchi abadis. Reportedly, the Awami Workers Party (AWP) has also supported the dwellers’ concerns.
Many people have warned that they would go on a hunger strike if the authorities concerned tried to evict the slum dwellers.
The Capital Development Authority (CDA) had decided to start an operation against katchi abadis after Eid-ul-Fitr and had informed the Islamabad High Court that it would demolish 42 illegal shantytowns in the Federal Capital. However, the civic authority did not share any plans about the relocation of the slum-dwellers.
