Prime Minister Imran Khan had issued orders to this effect during a meeting in February. He had directed CDA Chairman Amir Ali Ahmed to chalk out a plan for transformation of slums into high-rise buildings.
CDA spokesman Syed Safdar Ali said that existing slum dwellers will be accommodated in new high-rise buildings. The remaining developed land will be sold.

A pilot project for this purpose will be launched from F-7 France Colony. It will then be expanded to 100 quarters in F-6 Colony and other areas of the city.
So far, the civic agency has regularised 10 out of over 50 irregular settlements in Islamabad. The prime minister is keen to provide small planned houses to slum dwellers in areas where they are currently residing.
