Lahore: Renowned skiers from all over the country have arrived at the Naltar Ski Resort, located in Naltar Valley, Gilgit Baltistan (GB), for a state-sponsored ski contest that is scheduled to commence from tomorrow (Friday), a news source reported. As per the publication, several additional winter sports events have also been arranged at the venue for attendees.

The visiting athletes expressed their appreciation for the Pakistan Air Force (PAF)’s efforts to ensure that the resort had international standard facilities. They also stated that competing with famous skiers from around the globe would provide a great learning opportunity for local athletes and improve their overall performance levels.
The winter sports season, along with the Saadia Khan & Children Ski Cup, is set to begin from December 27. The Winter Sports Federation of Pakistan, with the support of the PAF, has organised a comprehensive calendar of events for this season.
Apart from skiing, the event will host figure skating, ice skating, snowboarding, and ice hockey competitions. It will include the Shah Khan Ski Cup, National Ski Championship, and Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Ski Championship.

Meanwhile, the Malam Jabba Ski Cup and CAS International Karakoram Alpine Ski Cup — featuring international skiers — is set to take place at Naltar and Malam Jabba ski resorts.
The authorities concerned expect to promote tourism in the northern areas of Pakistan and encourage further international sporting events in the country with these initiatives.
