Rawalpindi: The Punjab government has approved the construction of at least 65 mini-dams for the Rawalpindi division – a news source reported.

The total cost of this project is approximately PKR 30.9 million. Out of the 65 mini-dams approved, at least 20 will be constructed in Rawalpindi district.
The Punjab Agriculture Department (PAD) previously received 200 applications with respect to the construction of mini-dams. It approved 65 of these water schemes.
A single mini-dam will be constructed at a cost of approximately PKR 1 million. The provincial government will bear up to 60% of this expense. Similarly, the farmer concerned will pay for the remaining amount.

This development falls in line with the government’s efforts to enhance the supply of irrigation water. The proposed scheme will also help in the cultivation of profitable crops.
