Islamabad: The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) on Monday provided its approval to the development of six projects, a news source reported. The CDWP sanctioned the uplift schemes during a meeting of the Planning Commission, presided over by Deputy Chairman Mohammad Jehanzeb Khan.

According to the details revealed, these projects are expected to cost PKR 52 billion. Two pertain to transport & communications sector whereas four are related to water resources sector. These initiatives were presented by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).
The transport and communications projects are: Construction of Black Top Road from Duki to Chamalang (105km) with Link Road (55km)’ – PKR 6.51 billion and ‘Widening, Improvement and Reconstruction of Road from Khani Cross to Ziarat (70km) and Ziarat to Sanjani (64km)’ – PKR 9.75 billion.

The water resources sector are: ‘Restoration & Revamping of Mehmoodabad Nullah and its Tributaries’ – PKR 8.65 billion; ‘Restoration & Revamping of Gujjar Nullah’ – PKR 9.98 billion; ‘Restoration & Revamping of Orangi Nullah’ – PKR 9.05 billion; and ‘Restoration & Revamping of Lyari & Malir Rivers with Associated Tributaries’ – PKR 8.003 billion.
