Lahore: Six more train sets for the Orange Line Metro Train Project (OLMTP) have reached Karachi, a news source quoted Advisor to Punjab Chief Minister and Steering Committee Chairman Khwaja Ahmad Hassan. With the arrival of these sets, the total count has now reached 11.
Addressing a meeting held to review the status of development work on OLMTP, Hassan said that the project has been completed by 80%. He also said that measures have been taken to ensure the safety of heritage sites along the route, while suitable steps are also being taken to reduce noise and sound pollution caused by the ongoing construction work.
Hassan told the meeting that machinery and tools are also being installed to control the sound and vibration produced during to movement of train on the track that runs along the heritage sites. For this purpose, these sites will be covered with iron sheets to help keep them safe from any potential damage caused during the construction work, he added.
