Taxila: Federal Minister for Aviation Ghulam Sarwar Khan on Friday (October 22) announced that construction work will soon be launched on a six-lane Grand Trunk (GT) Road (N-5) from Taxila to Hassanabdal, news sources reported. The said road project would address the long-standing traffic issues of the region and the final financial plan of the project will be presented in the federal cabinet meeting soon.

Minister Khan further said that the 10.80-kilometer-long Taxila-Hattar road project will be completed with estimated funds of PKR 130 million on a priority basis in the next coming months.
In another development, Punjab Minister for Bait-ul-Mal and Social Welfare Yawar Abbas Bukhari addressed the press about PKR 98.8 million worth of development projects in the Taxila district including water and sanitation facilities. In an interview with the media, the minister stated that the projects’ execution will resolve potable water supply difficulties in the Jand regions of Makhad, Chaab, and Dekhanir. The allotted funds, according to the details, have been released, and the bidding procedure has also been completed.

The district public health engineering department will carry out the three-year project. This would address the health issues created by the use of polluted water, which has contributed to a significant number of stunted growth problems in infants as well as other diseases in adults.
