Karachi: A high-profile trade delegation from Singapore arrived in Pakistan on February 24, 2019 to enhance bilateral trade and economic relations, a news source reported. The delegation belongs to the Singapore Business Federation (SBF). The visit will last till March 3, 2019, during which the delegation will explore business opportunities in Pakistan.

The Singaporean delegation is comprised of investors and businessmen from different industrial sectors. These include real estate, infrastructure development, construction, oil & gas, agriculture, wholesale trade, information communication technology, education, and logistics.
In this regard, the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI) organised a Business Network Session on February 25 at their head office in Karachi. This session provided an opportunity to the Pakistani businessmen to interact with their Singaporean counterparts. The aim was to provide a platform for business meetings for trade and joint ventures.
According to sources, this is the first-ever business mission of Singapore to Pakistan initiated by SBF. The SBF organised it in association with a Singapore’s Government Agency Enterprise Singapore (ESP).

Currently, Pakistan and Singapore share bilateral trade volume worth USD 1.03 billion, and an export volume of USD 73 million. Meanwhile, the import volume is worth USD 970 million. In the past, Pakistan has benefited from Singaporean investment in its financial and telecom sectors.
