Karachi: The Sindh government is all set to launch a women-only ‘Pink Bus’ service from February 1, news sources reported on January 27.

The Pink Bus service will run from Model Colony to Mereweather Tower via Sharea Faisal every 20 minutes during busy office hours and every hour during normal business hours. The decision was announced by the ministry of transportation and communications citing the need for a safe commute service for women. In a statement issued by the ministry following a meeting, it was also announced that the women-only bus ‘Pink Bus’ service operation will be spread throughout the city.
The meeting, meanwhile, also reviewed the operations of Peoples Bus Service in Sukkur, Larkana, and Hyderabad and the launch of its remaining routes, including routes Nos 4, 5, 6 and 7 in Karachi.

The minister ordered that the operations of the Peoples Bus Service would be started in Sukkur by January 29. The minister also directed Sindh Mass Transit Authority Managing Director (MD) Zubair Chana to visit the remaining routes of the Peoples Bus Service in Karachi and inspect the ongoing repair work of the routes.
