Karachi: Sindh Transport Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has revealed plans to expand Karachi’s electric bus network by launching two new routes following Eidul Fitr, according to a news source on March 19.

Speaking at a press conference in Karachi, Memon highlighted the government’s initiative to roll out a prepaid card service for commuters starting April 18, which will facilitate access to the Green and Orange Line bus services. He also revealed intentions to procure 500 buses in the next fiscal year, with aims to extend the People’s Bus Service to cities like Hyderabad and Larkana, in addition to Karachi.

This announcement follows earlier efforts in January by the then-caretaker Sindh CM Former Justice Maqbool Baqar, who disclosed plans to add 80 buses to the People’s Bus Service fleet, including 30 hybrid and 50 electric vehicles.
