Karachi: Sindh government has decided to publish the names of tax defaulters in newspapers, a news source reported on April 27. The decision was made during a meeting chaired by Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inaam Memon.
According to the news report, the Sindh government emphasized that tax defaulters threaten the country’s prosperity and must face the consequences. He also declared that the names of tax evaders will be made public via newspapers and that their accounts would be frozen.

Praising ongoing efforts to combat drug dealers across the province, Memon urged authorities to intensify the crackdown. He stressed that drug peddlers jeopardize the future of the nation and its people, emphasizing zero tolerance towards them.
To bolster operations against drug dealers and tax evaders, competent police officers and personnel will be seconded to the Excise Department, initially from Karachi and Hyderabad.
The meeting concluded with plans to recognize outstanding officers and informers with awards. Proposals for implementing biometric vehicle registration and transfer, as well as addressing stakeholder complaints related to the Excise Department, were also discussed.
