The M-6 section is part of the China-Pakistan-Economic-Corridor (CPEC) project. The decision was taken during a meeting chaired by Chief Secretary (CS) Dr Muhammad Sohail Rajput. It was decided that the hydraulic study for the bridge would be completed on a priority basis by the irrigation department. The CS also asked the relevant departments to expedite work on the land acquisition process to launch the project’s construction in the coming months.
According to the briefing, the M-6 highway has been developed to connect several province sections with the CPEC route. The six-lane road will run through the districts of Jamshoro, Hyderabad, Matiari, Shaheed Benazirabad, Naushahro Feroze, Khairpur, and Sukkur. The project’s Project Concept-1 (PC-1) also proposes building a bridge across the Indus River to connect the motorway from Jamshoro to Hyderabad.

Last month, the Public-Private Partnership (P3) board gave final clearance to the M-6 motorway. The project would cost PKR 307 billion, according to the approved PC-1, and will be completed on a build-operate-transfer (BOT) basis. The project has a 25-year concession period, including a 30-month construction time and a six-month financial closing period.
