Karachi: Adviser to the Chief Minister Sindh on Information, Law and Anti-corruption Barrister Murtaza Wahab said that the Sindh government has completed 60 small dams, bunds and weirs, stated a news report. Wahab also added that 21 dams of similar size are in the process of being constructed. While giving details, he said that these projects have been completed in the hilly areas of the province such as Nagarparker in District Mithi, Kohistan and areas of Dadu, and Jamshoro.
For the upcoming projects, the Sindh government has estimated that it would take PKR 12.2 billion, which can help construct 122 dams in the next couple of years. In total, the province has 20 million acres, of which 12.8 million acres is under barrage irrigation, whereas 7.2 million acres is being proposed for rain harvesting through small dams.
