Karachi: The Ministry of Climate Change has approved a proposal to establish a second national park in Sindh – named Takkar National Park – while also agreeing to sponsor it, according to news sources.

This will be a second natural park in the province – to be developed 46 years after the establishment of the Kirthar National Park in 1974. According to details, the said park will span over 17,450 acres in Kot Diji Taluka of the Sukkur district. The park’s topographical features include mountains, plains and deserts.
Furthermore, it is reported that the proposed land for the park is rich in biodiversity and is already inhabited by foxes, jackals, jungle cats, chinkara deer, houbara bustard and falcons, among other animal species – besides abounding in vegetation.

Sindh Wildlife Department (SWD) Deputy Conservator Adnan Khan said that this Takkar National Park will help boost the growth of wildlife and will eventually promote tourism. He added that the chosen landscape is beautiful and is surrounded by cultural and historic sites.
