Karachi: The Sindh government will begin work on the establishment of the Dhabeji Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in August to facilitate investors and entrepreneurs, according to news reports on July 14. The project will be developed under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) model to maximize efficiency.

The news was shared by the Special Assistant to CM (SACM) Sindh on the Investment and Public Private Partnership Projects (PPP) Syed Qasim Naveed Qamar with the industrialists and investors. He stated that the government has also incorporated a 10 million gallon water supply project as part of the Annual Development Project (ADP) to make the project more industry-friendly. Furthermore, the government has already completed 95% of the natural gas infrastructure in the SEZ.

He also announced the addition of 1,500 acres to the current 1,530 acres for the development of the Dhabeji SEZ to make it more appealing to the industry. It is worth noting that the Dahej SEZ is one of nine SEZs developed as part of the China-Pakistan-Economic-Corridor (CPEC). The SEZs are part of the second phase of CPEC, in which both countries would create an industrial base in order to shift from net importers to net exporters of products and services.
