Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah decided to release frozen funds of PKR 208.113 billion for 4,158 ongoing and new development projects in the province, according to news published on October 18.

Earlier in September, the Sindh government decided to freeze the development funds in the wake of the recent flash floods. Now, the chief minister decided to unfreeze funds during a meeting and reviewed the ongoing development schemes of different departments.
Sindh Planning and Development Board Chairman Syed Hassan Naqvi informed CM Shah that work was underway on 4,158 schemes, for which PKR 204.652 billion were allocated before freezing the funds. Out of the total funds, PKR 199.649 billion were released but were frozen later. He went on to say that PKR 194.8 billion funds for 1,324 projects were also frozen by the government.
The CM was further informed about the total cost of flood rehabilitation projects. As per the shared details, PKR 336 billion will be required for flood rehabilitation emergency projects.
The following are the details of the funds for rehabilitation projects:
- PKR 110 billion for housing reconstruction
- PKR 48 billion for the rehabilitation of drainage and irrigation projects

- PKR 22 billion for the rehabilitation of major roads, drainage systems, and water supply
- PKR 16.90 billion for livestock restoration
- PKR 11 billion to provide wheat and oil seeds to the farmers
- PKR 9 billion for Rescue 1122 emergency services
