The statements were made by the Supreme Court bench on the second day of hearing the case concerning the rehabilitation of persons impacted by the city’s anti-encroachment drive along three main Nullahs. The court directed the Advocate General (AG) for Sindh, Salman Talibuddin, to submit a report on the case’s progress within two weeks.
According to the counsel for the Sindh government, the government is unable to begin the rehabilitation process because it requires a massive PKR 10 billion funding for the building of 6,500 housing units for the rehabilitation. The AG said that the government does not have this amount of money and is awaiting the release of cash.
