Lahore: The Sindh government recently received 15000 testing kits and 1.9 million hydroxychloroquine tablets from Getz Pharma, a news source reported. As per the publication, the Pharma Bureau and the Martin Dow Group, in addition to the aforementioned supplies, also donated 5,760 COVID-19 testing kits to the Indus Hospital, Karachi.

As per the publication, Getz Pharma is among a handful of Pakistan’s pharmaceutical companies that manufacture Hydroxychloroquine (an anti-malarial drug), which has proved to be a promising treatment for the novel coronavirus under medical supervision.

Getz Pharma also donated 1500 units of personal protective equipment among healthcare workers and doctors in 50 hospitals across the province, including hospitals in Karachi, Larkana, Nawabshah, and Sukkur. The company took these steps in order to ensure that the frontline medical workers were protected against the COVID-19 infection from the rising number of patients across Sindh.

Getz Pharma Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Khalid Mahmood gave the donation to Sindh Health Minister Dr. Azra Pechuho at her office at the provincial Health Ministry. Mahmood assured Minister Pechhuho of sustained support, while the latter expressed gratitude for the donation.
