Karachi: Sindh Chief Secretary Dr Muhammad Sohail Rajput stated that the provincial government has established Sindh People’s Housing Foundation (SPHF) for construction of houses for the flood affectees, a news source reported on February 15.

A workshop on construction of houses for flood victims was organised by the SPHF in Karachi. Speaking at the ceremony, the chief secretary informed that the said houses will be built in collaboration with Sindh Rural Support Organisation (SRSO), National Rural Support Program (NRSP), Sustainable Actions to Access Financial Capital Opportunities (SAFCO) Support Foundation, Thardeep Rural Development Program (TRDP), and HANDS.
Moreover, Chief Secretary highlighted that the said project is not just for building houses, but for social uplifting of the people. According to the survey, 2.058 million houses have been partially or completed damaged by the flash floods in the province.

Reportedly, the World Bank (WB) has agreed to provide USD 500 million for the housing project. The federal government will be providing funds of USD 250 million and Sindh government will also provide USD 250 million for the project. It was shared that the PKR 0.3 million on instalment will be offered for completely damaged houses while PKR 50,000 will be given for partially damaged houses.
