Karachi: Sindh’s Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) approved four development schemes worth PKR 12.98 billion on Thursday, according to a news report. These schemes are slated for development under the current fiscal year, and were approved by Chairperson Planning and Development Board Naheed Shah Durrani.
Prior to this sanction, the provincial body had approved a number of other development schemes as well.
One of the schemes is aimed at the health sector, and involves the establishment of psychiatry and accident/emergency units at Sindh Government Hospital in Saudabad, Karachi. The estimated cost of this scheme has been put at PKR 518.116 million.
Two schemes have also been approved for the local government sector: the Lyari Express Resettlement Project (LERP) worth PKR 8,719.80 million, and the rehabilitation and extension of a 5 million gallons per day (MGD) Pressure Rapid Filtration Plant at Unit no. 4, Latifabad, Hyderabad, worth PKR 745.090 million.
The fourth scheme was approved for CDWP with regard to the Forest and Wildlife Department. It includes the development of the Green Pakistan Programme (GPP) and the rejuvenation of forest and wildlife resources – expected to cost around PKR 5,500 million.
