Karachi: The Sindh government on Tuesday provided notification of its decision to reopen export-oriented units that provide an undertaking to abide ‘in letter and spirit’ with its communicated, coronavirus prevention, standard operating procedures (SoPs), according to news sources.

These SOPs make it mandatory for business owners to cover treatment expenses of their employees in case they contract COVID-19. To this effect, the province’s health authorities will conduct random tests from time to time to ensure health conditions at operating units. Moreover, the government has recommended for the employees over the age of 55 to not be called for work.

Sindh Chief Secretary Mumtaz Ali Shah said that the industrialists were also bound to offer details of their workers in the unit. Further, the Home Department has ordered for only minimal staff to present for the permissible activities and to exercise online/work from home method wherever feasible.
For workplaces, the minimum distance required between individuals is over three feet. The devices and equipment used by multiple people are to be disinfected and overall clean and hygienic space is to be ensured for the workers.
