Karachi: The Sindh government has launched two new routes for the women-only Pink Bus service in Karachi, according to news sources.

Sindh Information and Transport Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon inaugurated the Pink Bus Service to operate on two new routes, starting from March 1. The new routes include Route 2, from Power Chowrangi to Indus Hospital and Route 10, from Numaish Chowrangi to Sea View Clock Tower.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the minister shared that many developed countries do not have women-only bus services. He went on to say that only 12 countries in the world have transport facilities dedicated to women and Pakistan is one of them.
Moreover, it was disclosed that Pink bus service will increase its fleet on Route 1, from Model Colony to Tower. As per the details, Route 2 will have stops at Power Chowrangi, Indus Hospital Korangi, North Karachi, Nagan Chowrangi, Shahrah-e-Faisal, Johar Mour, COD, Singer Chowrangi, Drig Road, Korangi No.5, and Shah Faisal Colony.
Meanwhile, Route 10 will have stops at Numaish Chowrangi, Teen Talwar, M.A. Jinnah Road, Do Talwar, Metropol, Zainunissa Street, Mazar-e-Abdullah Shah Ghazi, Sea View Clock Tower, and Dolmen Mall. During the meeting, Transport Minister Memon directed the National Radio & Telecommunication Corporation (NRTC) to operate the People’s Bus Service to Hawke’s Bay Road and asked to conduct surveys for operating People’s Bus Service on more routes.

The new source mentioned that the first route of the Pink Bus Service was launched on a trial basis. Recently, a similar bus service was introduced in Hyderabad and plans are in place to launch a women-only bus service in Sukkur, Larkana, and other cities.
