Karachi: Sindh Minister for Excise, Taxation, Narcotics Control and Parliamentary Affairs Mukesh Kumar Chawla has urged property tax defaulters to submit their tax dues or face action, further directing the officials concerned to collect property, motor vehicle and professional taxes in an efficient manner – a news source reported on February 12.

He expressed his views on the matter during a briefing wherein he provided details of all motor vehicle and property taxes collected by the Sindh Excise and Taxation Department till January. He stated that the department had collected PKR 4,668.106 million from motor vehicle owners in Karachi between July 2020 and January 2021.
Out of the total amount, he said, PKR 312.001 million was collected from Hyderabad, PKR 141.409 million from Sukkur, PKR 67.837 million from Larkana, PKR 62.697 million from Shaheed Benazirabad, and PKR 40.457 million from Mirpurkhas.

Commenting on property tax collections, the minister said that excise department had collected PKR 187.664 million from Karachi, PKR 57.623 million from Hyderabad and PKR 27.267 million from Sukkur. Moreover, he asked professional taxpayers to log onto www.excise.gos.pk and register their businesses.
