Karachi: Provincial Minister Ghulam Murtaza Baloch has instructed the officials concerned to shift barns from Karachi’s residential areas, a news source reported. On his visit to Bhattai Abad in Malir district as part of the Clean Karachi Drive, the minister said that they can’t ignore the role of barns in polluting the city.

Malir Deputy Commissioner (DC) Abdul Haleem Jagirani and Municipal Administration officers also accompanied the minister on his visit. The officers briefed him about the steps taken for cleaning and removing garbage from the area.
The minister reviewed the ongoing cleaning activities in different areas of the Bhattai Abad Union Council (UC). These included Rashdi Goth, Bakhtawar Goth, Syed Village, Dhani Baksh Goth, Prem Villas, and Cantonment Board areas.
Baloch instructed the Malir DC to issue notices to the barn owners concerned. He directed the authorities to shift these barns far away from these areas. He added that they would take actions against the barns as prescribed in the law. He also issued orders to repair the bridge situated adjacent to the Dubai Palace in Gulistan-e-Johar.

Moreover, the minister instructed the authorities concerned to ensure the cleanliness along the edges of the highways. He added that the union committees of private housing schemes should ensure cleanliness within their societies and shift garbage to areas specified for the purpose.
