Karachi: While presiding over a meeting held to approve Karachi Development Authority (KDA) budget for fiscal year (FY) 2021-22, Sindh Local Government (LG) minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah said that a public housing scheme should be set up on four plots in Surjani Town, a news source reported on July 8. He wants the said scheme to be developed in partnership with the private sector.

The minister further enquired about the 15-years delay seen in development of KDA’s housing projects. He directed the authority’s officials to expedite development work KDA schemes, while promising complete support from the provincial government.
During the same meeting, the KDA governing body approved a PKR 6.619 billion budget for FY 2021-22. The budget was approved in accordance with Section 27 of the KDA Order 1957. In retrospect, budget implementation will begin on July 1.

Shah also asked the relevant authorities to go ahead with the operation to retrieve KDA land and flats from encroachers and illegal occupants. He also directed the officers of the KDA to take action against illegally built marriage halls on amenity parks land.
