Karachi: The Sindh government has allocated PKR 4 billion for the Karachi Safe City Project, aiming to enhance security in the city , as reported by a news source on May 24.

According to the details, the Sindh Safe City Authority will install 1300 CCTV cameras with advanced features like Facial Recognition and Automatic Number Plate Recognition in key areas. These cameras will have eight-hour solar backup and will integrate photographs of jail inmates. The project, overseen by Home Minister Ziaul Hasan Lanjar and DG Asif Aijaz Shaikh, is scheduled for completion in two years.

A Command-and-Control Building adjacent to the Karachi Police Office will manage the surveillance network. Upon completion, the system will monitor hospitals, track suspects, and manage criminal databases, integrating with national systems.
