Karachi: Sindh Minister for Excise, Taxation, and Narcotics Control Mukesh Kumar Chawala has announced that the Sindh government is set to introduce a smart card payments facility for online tax collection — a news source reported yesterday (July 15).

He further revealed that despite the issues posed by the coronavirus pandemic, the Sindh excise department was able to achieve 100% of its revenue collection target during the Fiscal Year 2019-20.
The minister praised the department, and said that it was playing a major role, as it is the largest tax collection agency in the province after the Sindh Revenue Board (SRB). He added that the department was also working effectively for narcotics control in the region.

Minister Chawla made these announcements in his address during the opening ceremony for the excise department’s new building on I. I. Chundrigar Road. He also took the opportunity to examine and tour the building on the occasion.
