Karachi: Sindh Minister for Industries and Commerce Jam Ikram Ullah Dharejo on Wednesday (January 19) said that the provincial government is setting up industrial zones at Dhabeji and Khairpur, news sources reported. It was said that the project will increase employment opportunities in the region.

While speaking to the members of various delegations, the minister added that the Larkana Industrial Zone has also been built, with a balloting procedure initiated for buyers and enterprises. The minister stated that the provincial government is working to build new industrial and economic zones around the province, including minor industrial units. The goal is to boost employment while simultaneously enhancing the country’s exports.

Commenting on the issues of encroachment and amenities in industrial zones, the minister stated that the government is working to rectify the situation and would take action as soon as possible. This will also entail the construction of additional industry-related infrastructure. The minister has earlier stated that the Sindh government intends to establish laws requiring industrialists to start construction within two years on a property given for industrial purposes. If no industry is developed within two years, the allotted industrial land would be cancelled.
