Karachi: The Sindh government on Sunday finalised a new lockdown strategy for increasing business hours and partially resuming public transport in the province, a news source reported. To this effect, the provincial government has allowed markets and shopping malls to operate from 5 pm to 8 pm; in addition to sanctioning the partial resumption of inter-city public transport.

On the other hand, the recommendations suggest continuing the ban imposed on inter-district public transport and parks amid the rising number of coronavirus cases in Sindh. Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah is expected to present the finalised recommendations in a meeting of the National Coordination Committee (NCC) today (Monday).

Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan summoned the said NCC meeting today in order to decide if the government should ease the lockdown further or make it stricter in light of the spike recorded in the country’s coronavirus cases. The meeting will work out a future strategy given the current pandemic situation in Pakistan.
