As per the details, the Hariyali Hub project will generate 21 tons of fertilisers by recycling trash. The board disclosed that the plastic in the garbage will be separated and recycled. For the testing of the project, the board has selected some of the union councils of Malir and Keamari districts. It was also mentioned that the board plans to launch similar projects in other districts of Karachi, as well as in Larkana, and Hyderabad, if the project turns out to be successful.
Reportedly, trenches on the area of 10,550 sq. ft have been dug for the project, with the capacity to hold 80 tons of garbage. The SSWMB will collect the wet and dry trash separately from the chosen union councils and deliver it to the agency. In order to create awareness among the public, campaigns are also being run to let people know how to separate dry and wet garbage.
