Karachi: The Sindh government has announced its decision to take action against defaulters of professional tax following the expiration of the December 31 deadline – a news source reported. This was decided in a meeting chaired by the Provincial Minister for Excise, Taxation & Narcotics Control and Parliamentary Affairs Mukesh Kumar Chawla.
Chawla further directed the officials of the Sindh Excise and Taxation (E&T) Department to develop strategies for the recovery of the tax. Excise, Taxation & Narcotics Control Secretary Abdul Haleem Shaikh, E&T Director General Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui and other relevant officials were all present at the occasion.
The minister also reprimanded the officials who had been unable to achieve the assigned targets. He added that the officers should make personal efforts on the matter. The minister also directed the relevant officials to run a campaign to urge people to pay their taxes.
