Karachi: The Sindh government plans to initiate work on its urban forestry project in a month’s time, a news source reported. The announcement came from Sindh Forests and Wildlife Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah. He was attending a dialogue centred on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). The National Forum for Environment and Health (NFEH) arranged the said event at the Karachi Gymkhana.
Karachi will be the first city to begin working on the urban forestry project. Addressing the CSR event, the Shah encouraged the philanthropists, corporate sectors, and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to take part in the city’s upcoming urban forestry drive.

Previously, the Sindh government had directed to formulate an urban forest plan to fight the environmental degradation in the region. This campaign is part of the Green Karachi Project.
Plans are underway to extend the urban forestry project to others provinces as well.
