Karachi: Sindh Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah recently announced the provincial government’s decision to form a committee to oversee the various types of construction projects being developed across the province; particularly in Karachi — a news source reported. As per the publication, the primary objective of this committee will be to curb the spread of illegal constructions and ensure an adherence to building safety standards during ongoing developmental work.

The minster made these announcements while addressing members of the Association of Builders and Developers of Pakistan (ABDAD). He went on to say that a mechanism for fast-track approval of small-scale projects had been put in place and that a similar setup would be introduced for large-scale projects as well.

He further went on to inform the gathered people that the provincial government was planning on introducing a portal to improve ease of doing business and that the state would also be introducing the new Karachi Master Plan 2047 to the public soon.
Secretary Local Government Roshan Ali Sheikh, Director General Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) Zafar Ahsan, Chief Engineer (KWSB) Ghulam Qadir and other government officials were also present at the occasion.
