Islamabad: The Sindh Government’s energy department is planning to energise the Dhabeji Special Economic Zone (SEZ) using wind power, according to a news report. This SEZ is a special priority project of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), and the land falls within a natural wind corridor.
An official of the Sindh Investment Department revealed that the federal government has already submitted a request to execute this project under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) Model, and will be placed in the next PPP policy board meeting. He further added that the project requires 32 Megawatts (MW) of electricity, and the PC-I for this 32 MW has been prepared already in coordination with K-Electric (KE).
The Sindh Government has already earmarked 1,530 acres of land for the Dhabeji SEZ and will facilitate foreign investors to set up new enterprises or facilities in the area. This SEZ is quite important as it will have easy access to Port Qasim, and Jinnah International Airport.
