Karachi: Sindh Provincial Minister for Labour and Human Resources Ghulam Murtaza Baloch has announced the government’s plan pertaining to the construction of a Labour City in Bin Qasim Industrial area, a news source reported.

He expressed his views on the matter during the 15th meeting of the governing body of the Sindh Workers Welfare Board. Labour and Human Resources Secretary Rasheed Ahmed Solangi and Workers Welfare Board Secretary Asif Memon, along with other members of the board, also attended the meeting.
The minister said that the board planned to construct 4,096 affordable flats in New Malir to address the accommodation problems of the labourers.
Moreover, the meeting approved the creation of an estate department for the maintenance of the labour colonies. It also approved the establishment of separate estate departments for the four industrial zones of the labour colonies.
For providing inexpensive and quality education for the children of these workers, the board has also approved the formation of a seven-member committee. This committee has been tasked with monitoring the establishment of a medical and engineering college within the vicinity.

To accelerate the process of plot allotments, a separate three-member committee has been formed.
