Karachi: The Sindh government aims to revive its economy by focusing on a robust and competitive urban sector and enhancing cooperation between urban and rural areas, including major cities and smaller towns, as reported on June 14.

According to a policy document, the government plans to increase efforts to promote industrialisation for the welfare of its people. It emphasises that industrial growth has been pivotal for developed nations, but Pakistan, including Sindh, has seen stagnant industrial progress in recent years. The document stresses the urgent need for a comprehensive industrial development strategy tailored to Sindh’s resources to ensure sustainable economic growth.

This strategy aims to strengthen the province’s economic base, generate new employment opportunities, and improve overall job prospects. One significant challenge highlighted is the underdevelopment of secondary cities in Sindh due to irregular public investment in infrastructure, resulting in poorly planned decisions.
