Islamabad: The Sindh government notified the Supreme Court on September 16 that it has canceled an agreement under which 5,222 acres of prime agricultural land in Thatta district had been leased out by the provincial administration to a UAE citizen for a 99-year period.
The report, submitted to the court by Sindh’s Additional Advocate General Qazi Shaharyar, stated that the land was leased to Naseer Abdullah of Emirates Sheep and the Agriculture Farming for PKR 15 million for the purposes of breeding cattle and engaging in limited agricultural work. According to the report, the terms and conditions of the agreement were infringed upon when an incorrect type of breeding farm was established.
Additional AG Shaharyar requested the court to allow submission of additional documents, because of which proceedings were adjourned for two weeks.
