Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Murad Ali Shah recently said that the provincial government was looking for alternative ways to launch the Blue Line transport project, a news source reported. He expressed his views on the matter during a visit to the city on Sunday.

Previously, the private company contracted for the project’s execution had backed out of its undertaking. The chief minister said that the executive had neither cancelled nor shut down the project; rather it required time to identify alternative methods for the launch.
He informed that the authorities concerned would complete the Red Line and Yellow Line projects in collaboration with the World Bank (WB) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) as both the agencies recently gave their approvals.

He said that the provincial government was waiting for the Executive Committee of National Economic Council (ECNEC) approval on this front; adding that he had requested the finance ministry to obtain the approval on an immediate basis.
