Karachi: The Sindh government has launched a survey to identify illegal vertical constructions in the city’s kachi abadi (slum) areas, a news source reported. Minister for Human Settlement Ghulam Murtaza Baloch expressed his views on the matter during a meeting with officials of the Sindh Kachi Abadi Authority on Wednesday.
According to officials, these building had been constructed in violation of the building bylaws determined for the high-rise structures in the city.
Once the surveys have been completed, the Ministry of Human Settlement, the Karachi Development Authority, the Sindh Building Control Authority and the police will launch a joint operation against these buildings.

Further, the minister emphasised on the need to regularise unauthorised buildings in the city and instructed the relevant regional directors to make all possible efforts for achieving the recovery targets.

He also discussed issues of the staff with them and issued directions where necessary to help resolve their concerns.
