Karachi: The Sindh government has announced a 15% raise in salaries for provincial employees in its budget 2019-20, according to a news source. Yesterday, Chief Minister (CM) Murad Ali Shah presented a zero deficit provincial budget worth PKR 1.217 trillion.

In this budget, provincial employees have been given a 15% raise as Ad-hoc Relief Allowance, while pensions have gone up across the board, also by 15%. The salary raise is applicable for all employees of BPS-01 – BPS-22. The CM also announced an increase in minimum wage to make it PKR 17,000. He also revealed the Peoples Promise Programme for poverty alleviation, which had been announced in his Pakistan People Party’s (PPP) election campaign.

It has also been promised that budgetary allocations would be prioritised for the education, health, and law and order sectors. More details on this budget will be forthcoming when the relevant bill is passed in the provincial assembly.
