Karachi: The government of Sindh has been ordered by the Sindh High Court to present its garbage-dumping policy and explain the details of garbage disposal to the court, a news source reported. The order came after residents of Jam Chakro Goth Malir requested the court to shift the garbage landfill site from their area.

The residents told the bench of the high court that the landfill in the metropolis was spread over 500 acres, which was the cause of the spreading of disease and unbearable stench in the entire area. But Advocate Shaukat Sheikh informed the court that dumping garbage at its own designated area is beyond the jurisdiction of the District Municipal Corporation.
The court requested suggestions from all related departments on the matter to propose ways to ensure hygiene and cleanliness in the city.
